Kenbishi is known as the first sake brewery to be branded in Japan, est. 1505. Kenbishi was very popular sake enjoyed by samurai. On the eve of major military battles, a large Kenbishi barrel would be ceremoniously opened. It was believed that sake strengthened the bonds of friendship and established strong loyalty in upcoming battles.
Tasting notes
A complex combination of sweet and savory tones. Rich yellow straw colour. Attractive aromas and flavors of toasted rice with soy and butter and honey and roasted nuts. Dry-yet-fruity medium body and a tingling, appealing, long finish.

Suggestions: chilled, normal, warm
Pairs with: Exceptional with wagyu or grilled beef, roast pork, game, mushrooms, aged cheeses, truffle dishes, and dark chocolate. Its deep umami also complements rich seafood such as uni and oysters.
