Description
A rare, once-a-year release, Kenbishi Zuishou is a masterful blend of Yamada Nishiki sake aged for five to fifteen years, showcasing the extraordinary depth that only time can create.
Produced by Kenbishi
Kenbishi is known as the first sake brewery to be branded in Japan, est. 1505. Kenbishi was very popular sake enjoyed by samurai. On the eve of major military battles, a large Kenbishi barrel would be ceremoniously opened. It was believed that sake strengthened the bonds of friendship and established strong loyalty in upcoming battles.
Tasting notes
A radiant golden hue introduces rich aromas of caramel, toasted nuts, dried fruits, honey, and a touch of cedar. The palate is silky and full-bodied, unfolding layers of mature umami, cocoa, malt, gentle spice, and subtle sweetness, all balanced by vibrant acidity. The finish is remarkably long, elegant, and complex, with each sip revealing new dimensions—what the brewery describes as a "wave of bliss."
Serving
Suggestions: Room temp.
Pairs with: Outstanding with grilled meats, duck, game, aged cheeses, mushrooms, dark chocolate, roasted nuts, or dishes featuring miso and soy-based sauces. It also pairs beautifully with rich Nordic cuisine and even vanilla ice cream for a unique dessert pairing.
