This wine has been vinified under the care and with the expertise of Thanassis and George Papaioannou.

Estate Papaioannou wine is produced from Agirgitiko selected grapes from the estate. We vilify them with care in order to get a full-bodied colourful wine with noble tannins and varietal aromas.

The maturing in oak barrels adds to this wine complex aromas and taste. Serve with red meat with strong sauce or cheese.

Recommend it for long lasting ageing.

Produced by Α. & G. PAPAIOANNOU, Nemea, Greece Α. & G. PAPAIOANNOU is an estate founded by Thanasis Papaioannou, often referred to as the “guru” and pioneer of Nemea. Back in the 1980s, when Agiorgitiko grapes were often blended anonymously into large wineries or sold in bulk with unknown quality, Thanasis Papaioannou disrupted the scene. His vision was to create wines that retained their unique characteristics, reflecting the grape variety and the vineyard’s position. He championed the idea of quality over quantity, which has become a hallmark of the estate.

Tasting notes

Grapes: Agiorgitiko Inviting aromas of ripe cherry, wild strawberry, and a hint of cocoa are complemented by subtle oak-derived spice. The palate is medium to full-bodied, offering silky tannins, vibrant red berry fruit, and well-integrated notes of vanilla and sweet spice. Beautifully balanced, it finishes long, smooth, and elegant, with the structure to develop further with bottle age.
